Genericide

Business Review Online blogger Jason Stamper observes that Google is concerned about genericide since "google" is now included in the Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.

Wikipedia defines genericide as "The process by which trademark rights are diminished or lost as a result of common use in the marketplace."

The recent Washington Post article notes the "the eye-popping fact that Google's trademark complaint [to the Washington Post] arrived via a hand-addressed letter in the actual mail."
