David Aronoff, the Geek VC tells his story on startups:

Nimbleness is a key attribute of startups and Route 128 and the Silicon Valley have a virtual hall of fame of companies that started in one direction, and then because of market forces or execution problems, pushed the reset button and recovered to become fantastic successes.
Startups are by their nature organic and need to be nurtured as they grow. As such “flawless performance” in a startup is an oxymoron, but thoughtful and lucky strategic decisions are usually the deciding factors.
